The project examines whether and how the evolution of foreign banking networks had a persistent impact on the development of local financial systems, the dynamics of international trade, and on economic growth. It is in cooperation with Christopher Meissner (UCDavis and NYU Shanghai) and Chenzi Xu (Harvard University).
