The Department of Social Sciences at Universidad Carlos III Madrid invites applications for a 2-years Post-Doctoral Position within a International Collaborative Research Project on “Uses of the Past in International Economic Relations” (UPIER), funded by HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area).

At Universidad Carlos III Madrid, the appointed post-doc researcher will contribute to the research project “Untamed Past? History and the PIGS (Portugal,Italy, Greece, Spain) in the Euro crisis”. The project explores how interpretations of the past were used in the public discourse about recent macroeconomic imbalances in Southern European Economies. To that purpose, the project applies multi-lingual textual analysis to a variety of large-scale text sources produced in the political and economic debate over the single currency since the 1980s, as well as during the recent Eurozone crisis. The appointed post-doc researcher will be engaged in research tasks related to the project. These include collection, processing and analysis of texts and data; use of empirical methods for multilingual textual analysis; drafting of research proposals and working papers. He/she will also participate and contribute to the organization of scientific
activities (workshops, seminars, conferences) within the UPIER project.
